The latest James Bond adventure is currently shooting in locations throughout the world and is set for a release in the first part of 2020. As with every 007 movie, details are few and far between, but here we break down what we know about the feature so far.
The cast and crew
Daniel Craig is returning for one more ride as Britain’s most famous super spy. Following Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall and SPECTRE, Bond 25 will be his fifth movie as Bond, and will reportedly be his last. Joining him this time around is Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek as the film’s primary villain, alongside Blade Runner 2049 actor Ana De Armas, Lashana Lynch as a character named Nomi and David Dencik as another villain named Waldo. Returning from previous movies are the likes of Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, Bond’s friend, and C.I.A. operative.
Directing this time around is True Detective helmer Cary Joji Fukunaga who co-wrote the script for the movie with Scott Z. Burns and Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge. An earlier draft of the screenplay was written by series regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. The creative team came on board after Danny Boyle, who directed the currently-playing Yesterday, departed the project due to creative differences.
The plot and title
Story details are, as always, completely under wraps, but the film’s Wikipedia page says that the film will revolve around the hunt for a missing scientist. An official title is also yet to be disclosed.
Locations
The producers and filmmakers recently released some behind the scenes footage from Bond 25 (see below) which is from the film’s extensive shoot in Jamaica. Other locations that will see the new 007 production visit include Norway, Italy and, of course, Pinewood Studios in England. There isn’t any further information available on specifics as yet though.
Iconic traits
We’ve already seen Daniel Craig pictured with the legendary Aston Martin, the V8, last seen in 1987’s The Living Daylights, on set in central London (see below), so expect to see the classic silver car in the new movie, but further iconic traits like a casino scene are yet to be revealed. After all, we saw 007 sit down for a game of Texas Hold ‘Em in Craig’s first outing in Casino Royale, so maybe Bond we will see him do something similar in the new movie. Having beaten folk at baccarat and Hold ‘Em, 007 firing up a laptop to hits websites like gclub-casino.com are a possibility with him moving into the 21st century to embrace the gambling world’s advancement into the online world. We’ll see. There’s also the presence of Ben Whishaw’s ‘Q’ so expect many of the iconic gadgets we’ve seen Bond handle in some of the previous films.
Release date
The 25rh Bond movie’s release date has been moved around somewhat, but now we’re hearing that the film will roll into UK cinemas on 3rd April 2020. It will be released in the United States a little later on 8th April 2020. This was confirmed on the official 007 Twitter page too
We’ll bring you more details on James Bond 25 as soon as they come our way.
