2020 has been a difficult year in the movie industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Movie makers have not been able to finish some productions due to coronavirus, however, there is hope in 2021 as various top-drawer films are set to be released or have just been released onto platforms which can accessed at home. Some of these films are movies that were supposed to hits screens last year but were never released. Here are five of the best films either now playing, or coming to a screen near you very soon
One Night in Miami
This incredible movie is directed by Regina King, and the film is her debut in terms of feature directing – and what a debut it is. The movie is based on the play by Kemp Powers, and is sure to be near top of everyone’s ‘best of’ lists come the end of year. The film is a fictional account of a night where four icons came together in a room in a hotel room in Miami; Cassius Clay, Malcolm X, Jim Brown and Sam Cooke. This one is expected to feature at many of this year’s awards list- which, did you know, nowadays at online casino you can bet on non-athletic events like movies and stand a chance of winning.One Night In Miami is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Our Friend
Our Friend was directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite. Jason Segel, Dakota Johnson, Casey Affleck and Jack Owen are amongst the cast of the movie which is based on an Esquire article written by Mathew Teague. It is about Teague’s wife who battles against cancer and also a friend (Segel) who moves in with the family to help out. It it is about finding humor in dark times and we absolutely loved it when we caught it at TIFF a couple of years back. The film is available to watch in some territories now.
The Dig
The Dig comes to the screen from director Simon Stone with the cast including Carey Mulligan, Ralf Fieness, Lily James, and Johnny Flynn. The Dig is a drama about a widower who has an old ship that is discovered by an archeologist. It can be found on streaming service Netflix to stream right now.
The Little Things
John Lee Hancock is the director of this star-studded drama. Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto are the cast of the movie. This film’s distributor’s have taken a leaf out of the gaming industry’s book where, because physical casinos are closed, people have switched to enjoy real money casinos online. Warner Brothers have essentially done the same by making all of their big tentpole releases available on their streaming service HBO MAx, as well as in cinemas. Malcom & Marie
Out on Netflix now, Malcolm & Marie is written and directed by the hugely talented Sam Levinson. There are just two members of the film’s cast; the titled characters played John David Washington Zendaya. The film revolves around a film director and his girlfriend who return to a rented Hollywood mansion following a hugely successful movie premiere.
