5 of the Best Movies to Stream in March

Spring has sprung! It’s a time for new beginnings and looking forward to summertime, but there’s still likely to be a few rainy days where you’ll want to stay in and snuggle up. AKA the perfect excuse for a movie day. 

Here are some perfect films to stream this month to keep you busy when the weather’s not so sunny. 

Horrible Bosses 

While employers can perform bulk background checks on their staff, the same can’t be said in reverse, as Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day find in this over-dramatic comedy. The actors’ characters conspire to murder their awful bosses (played by Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell and Kevin Spacey) who they blame for their unhappiness. 

Watching this might just give you the kick you need to ditch your own horrible boss (by leaving your job, not by plotting their murder) this spring – it could kickstart the new chapter you need!

Little Miss Sunshine 

This classic tragicomedy about a dysfunctional family on a road trip is sure to get you dreaming of your next family staycation… although we hope yours goes better than the Hoovers’ does. 

On the way to California’s Little Miss Sunshine pageant in which young daughter Olive (played by a young Abigail Breslin) is partaking, the Hoover family makes plenty of discoveries about themselves that ultimately strengthens their bond. It’s bittersweet, moving and hilarious all at once; a perfect film for a drizzly afternoon. 

Peanut Butter Falcon

Hailed “the sweetest film of the decade” by Film Inquiry, this beautiful 2019 movie should be on your to-watch list. Zak, a young man with Down Syndrome (Zack Gottsagen), absconds from his assisted living home to chase his dream of becoming a wrestler and meets Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a fisherman who’s also on the run. Zak is being tailed by his carer Eleanor (played by Dakota Johnson), who insists he should come back to the care facility. 

The movie earned plenty of positive reviews and a Rising Star Award for Gottsagen at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Brighten up your day with this feel-good flick, available to stream on Netflix.

Pride & Prejudice

This classic period drama based on Jane Austen’s famed 1813 novel is a wonderful springtime palate cleanser. Set in the gorgeous English countryside during the Regency era, it’ll give you a metaphorical breath of fresh air.

While there are several film adaptations of Austen’s romance story, we have to recommend the 2005 version starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth and Matthew Macfadyen as her love-interest Mr. Darcy. The pair’s portrayal of Elizabeth and Darcy’s rocky romance is a compelling and modern take on the 200-year-old tale. 

The Dark Tower

2017’s film adaptation of The Dark Tower by Stephen King is a science-fiction fantasy action adventure starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. If you’re after something darker to get stuck into, this movie should be your go-to for an evening in this March. 

A lot goes on in this film – it’s based on an eight-part series of novels – but it’s perfect for consuming your attention and provides lots of talking points after the movie ends. It’s brilliant fantasy escapism for those who love Stephen King, alternate universes, and lots of action.
