Trailer for festival drama ‘Joe Bell’ with Mark Wahlberg

Here’s a trailer for a film that I really quite liked when I caught it at the Toronto International Film Festival late last year, Joe Bell, a new drama led by Mark Wahlberg. The film is directed by Monsters and Men helmer Reinaldo Marcus Green and arrives in cinemas (US) in July.

The official synopsis is as follows:

From filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green (MONSTERS AND MEN; upcoming KING RICHARD), along with the Academy Award-winning writing team behind BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (Diana Ossana & Larry McMurtry) and Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg, JOE BELL tells the intimate and emotional true story of an Oregonian father who pays tribute to his gay teenage son Jadin, embarking on a self-reflective walk across America to speak his heart to heartland citizens about the real and terrifying costs of bullying.

When we saw it, it was still going by its original title, Good Joe Bell, but it looks like it has been slightly shortened, at least for its stateside run.

Our review said: “Solidly told if a sometimes a little by the numbers . There is some some excellent action on display, particularly from newcomer Reid Miller as Jadin, plus an honest, brilliant turn from its leading man, Mark Wahlberg.” Hit the link for the full review from TIFF.

The film his US cinemas on 23rd July with other territories to follow.

Here’s the trailer.
