According to the trade website Deadline, Ryan Gosling is reportedly in talks to join the cast of the planned Barbie movie. If he signs on the dotted line, he will join Margot Robbie in the title role as the famous toy. The film is set to be directed by Greta Gerwig.
Gerwig wrote the screenplay for the film with Noah Baumbach and shooting is set to start in 2022 with a 2023 release date presumably being eyed.
The famous brand of doll was launched by Mattel back in 1959 and, in the decades since, has has sold millions in the 62 years on toy shelves. It has been adapted into an animated TV series but this will be the character’s first live action film outing.
This film project is being set up at Warner Bros. and will also be produced by Robbie.
