Channing Tatum, Steven Soderbergh to re-team for ‘Magic Mike 3’

Channing Tatum is returning to the world of Magic Mike for a third movie in the series. He will collaborate with writer Reid Carolin and director Steven Soderbergh on the project, which is set to be titled Magic Mike’s Last Dance. It will debut exclusively on HBO Max on a date TBC.

The actor and producer tweeted the first page of the film’s screenplay earlier this week – specifically the title page that confirmed Soderbergh as director and Carolin as writer. Magic Mike was released all of the way back in 2012 and was a huge hit. A sequel, Magic Mike XXL, was spawned three years later.

The story revolves around Tatum’s Mike Lane, a male dancer, and his crew of peers. The first film saw Mike take a new dancer under his wing on the road to the big time, while the sequel saw the troupe take to the road for once last hurrah. No news on what the third movie will revolve around as yet.

Since the first movies were releasedd, the franchise has seen stage shows launch all over the world, kicking off in Las Vegas, and then Berlin and London to huge audience acclaim.

A third film is the series is a little ways off, but it all looks official with Deadline also reporting further details.

Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group said in a statement: “Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike? We’re thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike’s wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance and humor.”

More news of this one as it comes in.
