‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has now grossed over $1 billion worldwide

It is one of the biggest and best-reviewed films of 2022 and now it has been confirmed that Top Gun: Maverick has surpassed the milestone of $1 billion at the global box office. Tom Cruise leads the cast of the film, which was released 36 years after the original movie.

Tom Cruise plays Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

‘Maverick’ is now officially the highest-grossing film of the year so far, taking the mantle from Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It is also Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film of all time, hugely surpassing his previous biggie, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which was released in 2018. The next two films in that prestigious series are in production for release over the next couple of summers, starting in 2023.

Top Gun: Maverick has been greeted with widespread positive reviews from critics, and indeed multiple viewings from cinemagoers all over the world since its launch back in May.

We reviewed the film positively at the Cannes Film Festival where it was met with rapturous applause on the Croisette. You can read that review here.
