‘Road House’ remake officially a go with Jake Gyllenhaal

The remake of Road House is officially a go at MGM with a release set for Prime Video next year. Doug Liman is directing the redo of the classic Patrick Swayze-starrer from the late ’80s with Jake Gyllenhaal leading the new cast.

Variety reports that the film officially has a greenlight and shooting will commence later this month in the Dominican Republic.

The remake will see the action take place in the Florida Keys with Gyllenhaal’s character a former UFC fighter who is takes with the role of lead bouncer at a tough local club, only to discover that more there’s more to the sleepy town and it criminal underbelly.

The cast includes the likes of Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.
