Actors Kyle Gallner (Dinner in America), Sosie Bacon (13 Reasons Why), and Jessie T. Usher (The Boys) star in this week’s new release, Smile. Released just in time to kick off the spooky season, Smile is going to terrify audiences across the globe.
In Smile, Sosie Bacon plays Dr Rose Cotter. After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Rose starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.
Sosie Bacon holds Smile, and the audience, in the palm of her hand. Rose is the actor’s first lead feature role, but her performance is stunning. She plays Rose so convincingly that the viewer is dragged into the nightmare with her whether they want to be or not. Alongside her is the duo of Kyle Gallner of Jessie T. Usher. Gallner is no stranger to genre cinema and here he plays Joel, a police detective investigating the incident with Rose’s patient. He ends up going down the rabbit-hole with Rose as she seeks answers to her problems. Smile forms Usher’s first venture into the world of horror as he plays Rose’s fiance, Trevor. He is dealing with a very different nightmare to that of Rose as he grapples with the concept of losing her to mental illness.
Smile is an excellent debut feature from Parker Finn. It’s a perfect balance of scares and psychology and is sure to keep audiences up all night. Ahead of the release on 28th September, THN had the chance to speak to Sosie Bacon, Kyle Gallner, and Jessie T. Usher. We used the opportunity to find out what it was about Parker’s script that hooked them, and exactly why you should go to the cinema to watch it.
Smile arrives in cinemas across the UK from 28th September 2022.
