Netflix has released a very brief teaser for their upcoming Luther feature film Luther: The Fallen Sun which sees the return of Idris Elba to the title role he played in the BBC series for many years.
Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis, and Dermot Crowley also line up among the cast of the feature that will actually bow in UK cinemas for a brief time at the end of February before hitting Netflix in March.
Jamie Payne directs the film from a screenplay by Neil Cross though plot details are fairly thin on the ground at the moment but we do have the following.
In Luther: The Fallen Sun — an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga reimagined for film — a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther (Idris Elba) sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.
The film’s Netflix release date has been set for 10th March following that brief run in cinemas from 24th February.
