Is a ‘Ghost’ remake on the way starring Channing Tatum?

Some news now from the promotional trail of the new ‘Magic Mike’ movie, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, which is coming to screens next month. Its star, Channing Tatum has been out talking to media outlets, specifically Vanity Fair, where he revealed that he has the rights to a remake of the classic 1990 romantic drama, Ghost.

When I say he, I refer to his Free Association company who has bagged the rights to the movie, which starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and an Oscar-winning Whoopi Goldberg. It looks like a potential remake would see him in the Swayze role.

Speaking to the outlet, he said:

“We actually have the rights. Yeah, we have the rights to ‘Ghost.’ But we’re going to do something different. I think it needs to change a little bit.”

The film, directed by Jerry Zucker, revolved around Swayze’s murdered banker Sam Wheat and his girlfriend, played by Demi Moore. When Sam is gunned down, seemingly from a random mugger on the streets of New York City, he fails to pass to the other side, instead tracking down the people responsible, helped along the way by local fortune teller Oda Mae Brown (Goldberg).

The movie was huge, bagging over $500 million in global revenue. Here’s a reminder of this glorious movie.
