A sequel to the Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick-starring black comedy A Simple Favour is set to shoot in Italy this summer. According to this report, the film is in ‘advance negotiations’ as a go for Amazon Studios and Lionsgate.
According to the same report, the film will see director Paul Feig return to the director’s chair, with Lively and Kendrick also coming back.
The first film centres around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mummy vlogger who seeks to unearth the truth behind the sudden disappearance of her best friend Emily Nelson (Blake Lively). Alongside Emily’s husband Sean (Henry Golding; Crazy Rich Asians), Stephanie quickly finds herself in a high-stakes game of lies and deception as she realizes she may have never known Emily at all.
The first film was a huge hit, taking in $97 million in global receipts, It was an adaptation of th 2017 book by Darcey Bell but there’s no word on which direction the follow-up will go in – besides it being set in Capri.
