Hulu/ Disney+ has released a first look at the new version of White Men Can’t Jump which will wing its way to the streaming service later this year. The new remake is based on the very popular and really rather good Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes-starring movie which was directed by Ron Shelton which was released back in 1992.
Plot details of the new one are being kept under wraps, but the original movie revolved around ‘Billy, a hustler, who makes a living out of conning African American players into believing that he cannot play basketball. He teams up with Sidney, one of his victims, to double his chances.’
The new one is directed Charles Kidd II and written by Kenya Barris who co-wrote and directed the recently released Netflix movie You People with Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy, which I thought was rather good if a little formulaic in places.
Sinqua Walls (Friday Night Lights) and rapper Jack Harlow play the main roles in the new version with Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, and Vince Staples also among the cast.
The film is targeting a May 19th release on the streamer.
Heres the first-look.
