Creed III exceeded all expectations at the box office this past weekend and has reportedly taken a whopping $100 million in global receipts. The film, led and directed by Michael B. Jordan, is riding off of positive reviews and great word-of-mouth buzz. I saw it Friday and I agree, it’s great popcorn fare and one of the best in the series.
The film bagged $58.6 million in its home territory and another $41.8 million around the world, including a decent $6 million in the UK. During their total runs, the first two Creed movies scored $173.5 million and $214 million respectively, and this new one will probably surpass that.
The film, which we reviewed very positively on Thursday, revolves around Jordan’s Adonis Creed who is pulled back into the ring one last time for a deeply personal match. Jonathan Majors absolutely rocks in this movie and 2023 will undoubtedly be his year following the recent Ant-Man movie, and the forthcoming Magazine Dreams which features a performance that really does need to be seen to be believed.
