After catching it at Sundance earlier this year, Magazine Dreams has lingered in my thoughts ever since. Featuring a career-best Jonathan Majors, the film was quickly snapped up by Searchlight Pictures who has just revealed that the film will enter cinemas in an awards-friendly window this coming December.
We only have a specific U.S. release date at the moment – 8th December – but expect international markets to debut it around then, too. Searchlight has worldwide rights to the film, which also stars Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Harrison Page, Harriet Sansom Harris, and Mike O’Hearn.
The film revolves around a tormented bodybuilder (Majors) who is battling personal demons in pursuit of perfection. Following appearances in the likes of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed III, 2023 looks like it may be secure Majors as the man of the year. He’s excellent in all three, but could Magazine Dreams top everything off with some proper awards recognition? Only time will tell, though Searchlight clearly has ambitions for the feature.

One of the performances of the year. Majors’ committed turn as the tortured Killian Maddox is a game changer – one of the stongest performances – in more ways that one – we’ve seen for ages.
