Carnahan Out And Campbell In For Umbra

NARC and THE A TEAM director Joe Carnahan recently parted ways on Endgame Entertainment’s conspiracy thriller UMBRA. Now we have news that Martin Campbell, director of great Bond adventures GOLDENEYE , CASINO ROYALE and unfortunately last summers dreadful GREEN LANTERN, will now take the reins. Shooting on the film is expected to begin in the spring and Academy Award-winner Paul Haggis will re-write the screenplay originally penned by Steven Karczynski.

Carnahan, whose soon-to-be-seen survival thriller THE GREY is receiving incredible buzz, is said to have cited personal reasons for leaving the project. UMBRA will tell the story of a businessman who after receiving a package in the mail, becomes embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy involving some unsavoury government officials.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
