Following on from the hit Buddy Games, a sequel is set for screens later this year. Titled Buddy Games: Spring Awakening, the film stars Dan Bakkedahl, Kevin Dillon, Josh Duhamel, and Nick Swardson, plus James Roday Rodriguez, Lochlyn Munro, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jensen Ackles, and will be released by Paramount.
The film is due stateside quote soon with a May release set for cinemas and a June digital release. No word on when it’ll arrive on these shores, though.
We’ve got a synopsis for the movie below.
Dan Bakkedahl (Veep), Kevin Dillon (Entourage), Josh Duhamel (Transformers Franchise), James Roday Rodriguez (Psych), and Nick Swardson (Grandma’s Boy) reunite for the hilariously outrageous sequel to the hit comedy! Faced with their biggest challenge yet, the gang sets out to honor a lost friend only to find themselves in the middle of where it all began – Spring Break – where they learn their old school ways of partying hardly compete with today’s generation.
The original film was released in late 2020 and scored under $1 million at the global box-office. Let’s not forget that this was during the height of the pandemic and most of its takings would have come dfrom the digital/on-demand audience which, I suspect, will be the same for this one, too.
The US gets this from May 19 (cinemas) and then to buy on digital from June 2, 2023.
Here’s the trailer.
