Liam Neeson is reportedly set to return to the role of Mike McCann in a sequel to The Ice Road. Deadline reports the news of the planned film which will head to this year’s Cannes market for sales before a 2024 shoot.
The film is reportedly called Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky and will revolve around McCann who will travel to Nepal to scatter the ashes of his late brother on Mt. Everest.
The trade elaborates on the story: While on a packed tour bus traversing the deadly 12,000 ft. terrain of the infamous Road to the Sky, Mike and his mountain guide encounter a group of Nepalese mercenaries and must fight not only to save themselves and the busload of innocent travelers, but also the local villagers’ homeland.
Jonathan Hensleigh (Die Hard With A Vengeance, Jumanji) will write and direct the new one.
