Monica Bellucci is reportedly in talks to join the cast of Beetlejuice 2 over at Warner Brothers. Looks like htings are amping up on this with Jenna Ortega eating the cast with Michael Keaton, alongside further cast members Winona Ryder, who will play Ortega’s mother, and Catherine O’Hara as Ortega’s grandmother. Justin Theroux is also present in the Tim Burton-directed follow-up to his 1988 cult smash.
Keaton starred alongside Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis in the original film which took a remarkable $74 million plus upon release from a reported $15 million budget. A sequel has been in development for some time and it looks like it will finally happen with shooting expected to kick off soon.
Bellucci would play Beetlejuice’s wife in the film though no further details about the character or indeed the plot are currently available.
A release date is said to be September 6, 2024. More as it comes in.
