New Line Confirms Director For Police Academy Remake

Being one of the 1980s iconic movies, it was only a matter of time before madcap comedy classic POLICE ACADEMY, would be dusted off and given the remake treatment. The original series spanned seven films, each becoming more painful to watch, with 1994’s MISSION TO MOSCOW  being the final nail in the coffin for the series. The original’s fun but its adult-themed humour was eventually reduced to kid-friendly (unfunny) slapstick and now New Line Cinema have confirmed Scott Zabielski will helm their remake.

Zabielski will make his feature film debut after impressing the studio with his work on Comedy Central television hit show TOSH.O. The fact that Zabielski also attended the Los Angeles Police Academy and is a reserve police officer in West Hollywood, is sure to stand him in good stead.

Now lets hope there is room for a return for the great Steve Guttenberg, after his hilarious guest turn in an episode of PARTY DOWN.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
