Another new trailer from Vertigo Releasing is in a debut trailer for Mother, May I?, a new psychological horror movie coming to screens this August. The film will be officially released on digital platforms on the 21st of August 2023.
Emmett enters into a nightmarish game of therapy with his wife Anya, who has inexplicably taken on the persona of his estranged and recently-deceased mother. Bizarre and creepy in equal doses, this psychological thriller will keep you guessing if this is truly possession or just a twisted battle of wills.
Directed by Laurence Vannicelli (Prono, Black Site Delta) and featuring Holland Roden (Teen Wolf, Follow Me) and Kyle Gallner (Smile, Scream), Mother, May I? Is a genre-bending, supernatural horror that we really liked when we covered it at the Brooklyn Film Festival last year. You can check out our full review at the end of the link above, but here’s a snippet of what we thought:
Mother May I? explores the dynamics of mother and child, as well as partner and partner, in Laurence Vannicelli’s secluded and sensitive exploration of trauma and repression. Expertly performed by Holland Roden and Kyle Gallner, Mother May I is a Freudian nightmare made real and is curiously compelling.
Here’s the new trailer.
