First trailer for ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ – arriving next summer

20th Century Studios just dropped the first look trailer for the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the next instalment in the popular sci-fi series, this time directed by Wes Ball.

The release of this one is way off – not until 24th May 2024, but it looks to be one of the big summer movies for next year.

Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Owen Teague, Freya Allan,, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy lead the cast of the film. The screenplay is by Josh Friedman and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison, based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Jason Reed, with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serving as executive producers.

Here’s the first trailer.
