The first film is in cinemas still but a sequel is already on the cards for Eli Roth’s slasher film Thanksgiving. Word comes to us via the pages of Deadline on the plans over at Sony’s Tristar Pictures which comes as the first movie approaches $30 million in takings at the global box-office. Most of that is coming from its domestic territory where it has made around $25 million as I type this.
Patrick Dempsey, Ty Olsson, Gina Gershon, and Gabriel Davenport lead the cast of the first film which is set at Thanksgiving in Massachusetts where a killer named John Carver is killing residents of a small town. The film only dropped 31% of its opening weekend box-office in its second week out there.

After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorises Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the holiday. Picking off residents one by one, what begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan. Will the town uncover the killer and survive the holidays… or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?
Roth will return for a second helping. He confirmed the news on his social media today.
No word on when Thanksgiving 2 will arrive on screens but I gues they’ll aim for this time next year? We’ll keep you updated.
