Gerard Butler has been confirmed to be reprising his role as Stoick the Vast in the planned live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon. The film has been given the green light with the original animated film’s co-director Dean DeBlois at the helm.
Mason Thames and Nico Parker are leading the cast of the redo which is set up at Universal Pictures.
The film is based on the trilogy that ran from 2010-2019 which grossed a huge $1.6 billion at the global box office.
The new live-action film already has a release date set for 13th June 2025, so reports Deadline.

The first film in the original animation series revolves around a ‘hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.’
Shooting kicks off later this year on the live-action film.
