It’s incredibly difficult not to use the word ‘quirky’ in relation to the new trailer for MOONRISE KINGDOM and once again the metaphorical eccentric apple doesn’t fall far from the tree of Wes Anderson’s work. But before we get stuck in confusing personifications, lets’ concentrate on the film. MOONRISE KINGDOM is an offbeat coming-of-age comedy that revolves around two 12-year-olds who make a secret pact to run away together after they fall in love. This, in turn, kicks off a massive search from friends, family and the authorities desperately seek to find them before a tremendous storm hits New England.
His work may not have the same impact as it does in North America but once again has gathered one hell of an impressive cast including Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and the brilliant Frances McDormand. We’ll also see the return of Jason Schwartzman and the legendary Bill Murray. Personally, I think Anderson’s films grow with repeated views and retrospect and judging by this trailer, another amusing adventure of self-discovery:
MOONRISE KINGDOM is written by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola and is set for summer release in France and will surely follow not long afterwards in the UK.
