CW Circles Green Arrow Series

He dresses in green, carries a bow and arrow and appears on TV sometimes. No, it’s not Robin Hood, but rather DC comics’ popular and similar hero, (the?) Green Arrow. Executive producers Greg Berlanti and Mark Guggenheim are developing a pilot for The CW around the superhero, and if it’s anything like DC stablemate Smallvile, it’ll run for a startlingly long time. Unsurprisingly, Green Arrow’s schtick revolves mostly around heroic feats of archery, and like the other green bowman, will generally be able to solve his problems with elastic and a few bits of wood. But while Superman had a dedication to truths, justices and American ways, Green Arrow’s stock in trade was, at times, progressive left wing politics. Whether The CW will wish to continue this is yet to be seen, but it is safe to assume that of course they won’t.

The character is no stranger to the CW network, having appeared in several episodes of Smallville. Palling around with young Clark Kent, Smallville’s Arrow, played by Justin Hartley, was something of an anti-hero, with the usual anti-hero traits of bending the rules to enforce the greater good. It is confirmed, though, that Hartley will not be starring in the new Arrow pilot, leaving the door open for handsome young actors who want to be just as famous as what’s his name from Smallville.
