Some news about an upcoming 4K Blu-ray release coming our way soon. Arrow has revealed that the gruesome horror flick Basket Case is winging its way to the physical home markets in a 4K UHD restoration from Arrow on 30th April. The film will also be available for streaming in 4K.
The film, released in 1982, shows off New York’s 1980s-era Times Square and is brought to life in all its seedy glory. The low-budget film (it was made for around $35,000) was a huge hit on the midnight movies parade where it secured a spot for two and a half years.
The cast includes Kevin Van Hentenryck, Terri Susan Smith, Beverly Bonner, Robert Vogel, Diana Browne, Lloyd Pace, Bill Freeman, Joe Clarke, Ruth Neuman, Richard Pierce, Sean McCabe, and Dorothy Strongin. Frank Henenlotter directed the film.
Here’s the synopsis:
Duane Bradley seems like a pretty ordinary guy. His formerly conjoined twin Belial, on the other hand, is a deformed creature who lives in a wicker basket. Arriving in the Big Apple and taking up a room at a seedy hotel, the pair set about hunting down and butchering the surgeons responsible for their separation.
This is not for the faint-hearted. though. The film’s original theatrical release was given the X rating by the BBFC with an 18 rating on the home formats.
