Upcoming feature Hundreds of Beavers has had a UK release date announced. The film is set to land on cinema screens on 9th July, according to an official press released received this morning. The Hundreds of Beavers UK release comes following screenings of the movie at film festivals all over the world.
Hundreds of Beavers is directed by Mike Cheslik, and stars Ryland Brickson Cole Tews, who co-wrote the script with Cheslik.
The film is described as a slapstick frostbitten battle between a drunken applejack salesman and diabolical beavers – hundreds of them – who stand between him and survival.
Following its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in 2022, the film has screened at more than 50 festivals, including Popcorn Frights, Fantasia and Sitges. We reviewed the film back in March and loved it. The Hundreds of Beavers UK release new comes after we caught the film when it was released stateside.
Our Hundreds of Beavers review by our own Rebecca Sayce said: “Bringing together everything from German Expressionist visuals to Looney Tunes violence and comedy that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Charlie Chaplin film, Hundreds of Beavers is a triumphant low-budget fever dream. Hundreds of Beavers delivers laughs in abundance while celebrating the DIY, practical effects often forgotten in the modern world of cinema. Sure to be a cult classic in years to come, the sheer scale of Hundreds of Beavers must be seen to be believed – possibly with a cider in hand.”
Comedy goes back to basics in the bizarre, slapstick romp that brings the silent film era to a postmodern audience.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Hundreds of Beavers to audiences in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Mike, Ryland and the rest of the team have created something truly joyous. The film is lovingly crafted, bursting with creativity and, above all, side-splittingly funny,” said Lightbulb Film Distribution’s Sales & Acquisitions Director, Peter Thompson.
An official website for the film is online here which contains info on where you can watch the film if you’re not in the UK rather than focussing on Hundreds of Beavers UK release.
