‘All Shall Be Well’ trailer; New LGBTQ drama deals with loss in contemporary Hong Kong

A trailer for the upcoming LGBTQ drama All Shall Be Well has been released by the film’s U.S. distributors Strand Releasing. The film had a festival run beginning with the Berlin International Film Festival back in February. I caught this film at that festival and can really recommend it. The All Shall Be Well trailer can be viewed in the player below.

The story is set around a lesbian couple living in a nice apartment in Hong Kong. They’ve lived happily as a couple in the abode for decades but then Pat suddenly passes away. What follows is Angie’s standing among Pat’s family after her death, specifically her rights and the moral dynamics between her and the blood relatives of her former partner.

Patra Au and Lin-Lin Li lead the cast of this remarkable film which I absolutely loved. The official synopsis is as follows.

Angie and Pat are a couple living in Hong Kong who have been together for over four decades. After Pat’s unexpected death, Angie finds herself at the mercy of her extended family as she struggles to retain both her dignity and the home that they shared for over thirty years.

I reviewed this film at the Berlinale. My All Shall Be Well review at Berlin said that the film as ‘a heartwarming and heartbreaking drama about family dynamics, grief and moving on from loss. Superbly acted and told, All Shall Be Well is one of the highlights of Berlinale’s Panorama.’

Beautifully told and superbly acted, Ray Yeung’s All Shall Be Well is an involving, very sad drama that is a standout at this year’s Berlinale Panorama strand.

With the All Shall Be Well trailer debuting it looks like the film is getting a release over in North America through Strand. I hope it is picked up for the UK very soon.

Check out the All Shall Be Well trailer below and the film when it plays near you.
