Reason8 are releasing this one in the UK following a debut at the 27th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival as part of their Critics’ Picks Competition where it received critical acclaim.
Director Nicholas Parish makes his debut with the film with the cast made up British acting legends Rory Kinnear (Skyfall) and Emily Beecham (Hail, Ceaser!) alongside real life farmer Roger Marten.

The story is as follows:
As an old farmer’s strength fades, who will inherit the land he loves? His daughter knows farming but lacks sacrifice, while his son sees only property value. As they bicker, will the farmer’s lifelong devotion to the land be lost, or will someone rise to continue his legacy?
We received the official press release about the release this morning and with it came the following message. The Old Man and the Land contains themes (including physical abuse and mental health issues) that take place within a rural agricultural community. For anyone affected by these themes, the filmmakers would like to make them aware of the charity RABI, who work tirelessly to uplift and support farming people through practical, financial and emotional assistance, offering one-to-one, expert support, advice and guidance. Whether it’s giving expert advice on benefits potentially available to farming people or accessing mental health support, RABI offers a beacon of hope.
