Mike Leigh’s new film ‘Hard Truths’ gets a release date

STUDIOCANAL has revealed that they are set to release Mike Leigh’s next film, Hard Truths in January. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, followed by screenings at the San Sebastian Film Festival, New York Film Festival on and BFI London Film Festival.

Set in London, Leigh’s new film explores family relationships in the post-pandemic world. The film stars Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets & LiesWithout a Trace) and Michele Austin (Secrets & LiesAnother Year), who reunite with Leigh, after earlier collaborations on stage and screen. Both have been nominated for this year’s British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) for Best Lead Performance and Best Supporting Performance, respectively.

The film features cinematography from the late, great Dick Pope who sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago.

Specifically, the film will land on UK and Irish cinema screens from 31st January.
