The Stand Lands Screenwriter David Kajganich

Legendary horror scribe Stephen King’s epic novel THE STANDwhich was previously made as a acclaimed mini-series  – is to be adapted once again.  We first heard a few months back that Ben Affleck will direct a big-screen adaptation of the book, and today we have news of just who will pen the screenplay. THE TOWN and GONE BABY GONE helmer has been able to acquire the services of David Kajganich, the man responsible for another fan favourite King adaptation, the mini-series IT.

Affleck’s two directorial efforts have been pretty impressive, with both garnering Academy Award recognition for Amy Ryan’s performance in debut GONE BABY GONE, and Jeremy Renner in THE TOWN. Affleck’s next project, the all-star thriller ARGO, is due 5th October and tells the true-life tale of a covert operation to free six American hostages from Tehran, using the help of a movie special effects team.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
