Tom Cruise gets Guinness World Record for latest ‘Mission’

While filming the latest and possibly last instalment in the hit Mission: Impossible franchise, Tom Cruise earned himself a Guinness World Record for most burning parachute jumps by an individual.

The star and producer of Mission: impossible: The Final Reckoning, which is now playing in cinemas, jumped 16 times for a stunt in the movie, his parachute ignited each time before safely landing, we assume, with a secondary parachute.

The stunt was performed in South Africa during the filming of the new movie, which has so far wowed audiences and taken in a huge $389 million (at the time of writing) at global cinemas (as per Box-Office Mojo).

“We’re gonna be real smart. I’m not saying be risky. We don’t take risks… obviously,” Cruise says in this behind-the-scenes look at the epic stunt in the film.
