In 2020 Kyle Gallner starred in Adam Rehmeier’s phenomenal Dinner in America. Now six years later, the pair are together again for Carolina Caroline, but they aren’t alone, as Samara Weaving joins the party.
Carolina Caroline sees Samara Weaving star as Caroline Daniels, a young woman whose desire to leave her small Texas town brings her into the orbit of charismatic con man Oliver (Kyle Gallner), and together they weave a path of crime and passion across the American Southeast.
Anyone who was a fan of either Dinner in America or Snack Shack is going to fall head-over-heels fan Adam Rehmeier’s latest, thanks in no small part to the union of Kyle Gallner and Samara Weaving. Both are titans of the horror genre in their own right with Weaving best remembered for her roles in the Ready or Not and Babysitter films, and Gallner having starred in Jennifer’s Body, The Haunting in Connecticut, and the Smile movies. They even both have been killed by Ghostface in different Scream films, but despite their horror pedigree, Carolina Caroline is a very different film. Getting to see Kyle Gallner and Samara Weaving unshackled from horror is a beautiful experience as in Carolina Caroline they get to channel their inner Alabama and Clarence Worley and deliver performances that are just as iconic.
Carolina Caroline first debuted at TIFF in 2025, and now arrives in US cinemas on Friday 5th June, with a UK release hopefully not too far behind. Ahead of the release of Carolina Caroline, THN were invited to speak with Kyle Gallner and Samara Weaving. We took the opportunity to speak to both of them about how they went about building their characters’ whirlwind romance, how Samara was welcomed into the Dinner in America family, and whether Carolina Caroline has a moment to rival that Watermelon song sequence in Dinner in America.
