Fox Closes House

Fans of Hugh Laurie’s limping, frowning and solving medical mysteries will soon have to get their fix elsewhere, as Fox has just announced that HOUSE’s eighth season will be its last. The long-running drama managed to make the tall buffoon from BLACKADDER an American star and also won a satisfying fistful of awards, whilst sparking much fandom discussion of when it declined in quality, as many long-running shows do. At its peak, it drew in an audience of around 19 million, though these numbers have been in steady decline since 2007.

HOUSE has something of a loyal fanbase, with a lot of investing in characters and relationships. In a few months we’ll see whether the creative team can end the show in a satisfactory manner, or if there will be tons of contention as there often is when lmuch-loved shows come to a close
