Release Date For The Wolverine Finally Confirmed

With Hugh Jackman’s last outing as adamantium-clawed mutant Logan in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, many would be forgiven for not wanting to venture back there again. Such is the admiration for the Marvel creation, the return of the character was always likely, especially with so many classic comic-book storylines still to be explored. Now after a number of false starts, major director and writer changes, it now appears Jackman’s heroic return will hit cinemas 23rd of July 2013.

COPLAND and 3:10 TO YUMA director James Mangold, (who replaced Darren Aronofky) is helming THE WOLVERINE, which will see the X-MEN favourite travel to Japan and unleash his anger on that martial arts-skilled part of the world. The action film is expected to begin shooting this year after Jackman finishes work on Tom Hooper’s classic musical LES MISERABLES.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
