Elizabeth Olsen To Join Brolin For Old Boy Remake?

After a quite astonishing turn in Sean Durkin’s psychological film MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE (a role cruelly overlooked by the Academy Awards), Elizabeth Olsen may be about to join the cast of Spike Lee’s OLD BOY English-language remake. The original’s dark and controversial subject may just be the perfect project for the young actress after her own star-making debut.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN’s Josh Brolin has already been cast as the lead (named Joe in this adaptation), who after being captured with no understanding as to why, is then imprisoned in a hotel room for 15 years. He awakes one day to find he has been set free, with only revenge in-mind and a obsession to find the man responsible. Anyone who has seen Chan-Wook Park’s Korean masterpiece will know exactly which role Olsen is likely to play. ALICE IN WONDERLAND’s Mia Wasikowska, had previously been rumoured for the part.

With Brolin confirmed and Olsen now in early talks for the female lead, the role of the villain is the one fans will now be itching to hear.  Early indications had been circling that Clive Owen would reunite with his INSIDE MAN director, but no confirmation has came from the studio.

Elizabeth Olsen will soon be seen in real-time suspense/horror SILENT HOUSE, which will hit UK cinemas on the 4th May.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
