New Trailer Released For ParaNorman

Although the film isn’t released over here until September, the trailer for the upcoming stop-motion animation comedy PARANORMAN has been released.

Laika, the company that created the Academy Award-nominated CORALINE (2009) is behind this new comedy thriller, with Chris Butler and Sam Fell co-directing. Fell has also directed FLUSHED AWAY (2006) while this is Butler’s first time directing (he also wrote the script for the film).

PARANORMAN stars Kodi Smit-McPhee as Norman, an outcast in his family, school and town. However, when his town becomes overrun with zombies, the only person everyone can think of to save them is Norman – who can, luckily, speak to the dead. Along with the zombie outbreak, Norman also has to tackle witches, ghosts and other ghouls, including his parents and his sister, Courtney (Anna Kendrick). The film also stars Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Jeff Garlin, Leslie Mann and Tempestt Bledsoe.

While I watched the trailer I got a vibe of MONSTER HOUSE (2006) mixed with SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004) – both brilliant films, so I’m sure this is going to be a success with children and adults, alike. The trailer gives us a glimpse at its smart humour and brilliant visuals, which have been created by stop-motion animation. I hope it achieves the success it deserves.

PARANORMAN is set for release from 14th September, 2012.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
