It’s A ‘Silent Night’ Deadly Night For Malcolm McDowell

Christmas has come early for one of the UK’s finest actors, as Malcolm McDowell has landed a major role in Steven C. Miller’s remake of 1984 festive slasher, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT. McDowell first came to fame in Lindsay Anderson’s IF…; three years later, he cemented his credentials as one of the actors of his generation as Alex DeLarge in Stanley Kubrick’s A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

The actor has been a mainstay on the small and silver screen for well-over 40 years, going on to appear in cult classics, ranging from TIME AFTER TIME, CLASS OF 1999 and GANGSTER NO.1. He has also had recurring roles in hit television shows ENTOURAGE, THE MENTALIST and HEROES. McDowell headlined Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN reboot and even appeared for a moment in this years Best Picture Oscar winner, THE ARTIST.

Before McDowell begins shooting his role as the town sheriff in the horror remake (that will now only be titled) SILENT NIGHT, he will next be seen in HOME ALONE 5: ALONE IN THE DARK, SILENT HILL: REVELATIONS and serial killer biopic MONSTER BUTLER. Does this man ever stop?!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
