‘The Hunger Games’ Gary Ross Won’t Return For ‘Catching Fire’

He originally sought THE HUNGER GAMES himself, after his daughter passed her favourite novel on to him. He even took a significant pay cut in order to adapt the franchise opener, now after agreeing to return for sequel CATCHING FIRE, Gary Ross has officially exited the record-setting survival-thriller series from author Suzanne Collins.

Whispers and rumours have been heard all week, some regarding Ross’ demand for a major salary rise, others suggesting Ross never really wanted to return, preferring to mix genres like he has done all his career. Either way, the director and Lionsgate have parted company, and another director is being sought for an August/September shoot. However, stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will still return.

What are your thoughts on the breaking news and do you have any suggestions on who could or would you like to replace him?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I would go all possible articles til someone hears me. ALFONSO CUARON WOULD BE PERFECTION!!!
    GET ALFONSO CUARON!!!
    ALFONSO CUARON ALL THE WAY!!!
If THG has got no chance of gaining an Oscar nom for best picture, with Cuaron, those odds will definitely be in their favor.
