Dick Clark November 30 1929 – April 18 2012

It is with great sadness The Hollywood News announce the passing of Dick Clark. Known best in this country for American Bandstand, which he hosted for 33 years between 1956 and 1989, and Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve, which beamed Times Squares New Years Eve celebrations worldwide, Clark was, and still is, an American institution and one that will be greatly missed. Passing following a massive heart attack he leaves this world at the age of 82.

As is the norm the World of Twitter has had its say on Clark:

@RyanSeacrest who co-presented New Year Rockin’ Eve with Clark since 2009

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life.

@JanetJackson

Dick Clark changed the face of musical television. He was wonderful to many artists including our family. We will miss him. God bless.

@JonasBrothers

You’ll continue to be an inspiration to us all Dick Clark. Thanks for the amazing rockin years you were with us. You’ll truly be missed

@jermjackson5

Dick Clark always came to our dressing pre-show to make sure we were okay and catered for. Big hearted. One-of-a-kind. Will be missed.

This is just a snippet of the out-pouring of mourning taking place in the USA and worldwide. We at The Hollywood News pass on our best wishes to Dick’s family and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
