Dark Knight Rises News: Final Trailer, IMAX Footage, Rumoured Run-Time

Plenty of DARK KNIGHT news to sink our teeth into today, and here we go

The third and final trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is set to debut ahead of screenings of THE AVENGERS in the US from 4th May. No official word if the trailer will appear with AVENGERS ASSEMBLE in the UK but it’s a pretty safe bet. Warner Bros. previously used IRON MAN to promote THE DARK KNIGHT back in 2008.

NolanFans.com — a website dedicated to director Christopher Nolan — spotted the placement of the trailer on the Warner Bros. exhibitor site. Thanks for the heads up, nerds!

In other DARK KNIGHT news, the sequel has smashed the franchise’s IMAX footage. THE DARK KNIGHT contained around 40 minutes of IMAX footage and today Nolan has revealed fans can expect ‘more than one hour’s worth.’

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Nolan spoke of how blockbuster movies can handle the huge, noisy IMAX cameras:

‘There was a huge irony that we were told it would be too difficult to shoot a Hollywood movie on IMAX when we had this gigantic camera department, grips, electric, hundreds of people working for us. These were cameras that had been to the top of Mount Everest, to the bottom of the ocean and into outer space, but people thought we couldn’t make a feature film. It was absurd.’

Finally, there’s a rumour circulating about the films run-time… According to the Australian website for Events Cinemas THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is noted as running for 2 hours 40 minutes. As the film has now received an MPAA rating in the US (PG-13) its likely there’s a finished cut of the movie, meaning there’s also a known run-time. However, until there’s an official anounce this is just speculation.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Cane, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. It hits UK cinemas on 20th July 2012.
