It has been confirmed that Michelle Rodriguez will be back as Luz and Letty in respective sequels for MACHETE and THE FAST & THE FURIOUS. The Texan beauty is known for her roles as the ‘tough chick,’ in films such as AVATAR, RESIDENT EVIL, and S.W.A.T. She has previously appeared in two entries into the FAST & FURIOUS franchise, as well as Robert Rodriguez’ 2010 all-star exploitation hit MACHETE, that became a full-length feature after originally having been a mock-trailer.
Rodriquez will appear alongside Mel Gibson, who we confirmed last week, will this time play the ‘bad-guy’ in MACHETE KILLS. Danny Trejo is also back as the lead of the ex-federale bad-ass, now making ends meet as hired mercenary with a conscience (and an arsenal of equally badass weoponry). Jessica Alba is also expected to return.
As for FAST & FURIOUS 6, she’s set to star alongside newcomers Rihanna and Gina Carano, as well as regulars Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. The fifth effort was the series’ biggest hit yet, both commercially and critically, setting a benchmark for the upcoming sequel to attempt to top. Justin Lin also returns to direct.
