I have written many times in various articles about my love for Vin Diesel’s first outing as the mysterious anti-hero Richard B. Riddick. PITCH BLACK was a low-budget, unexpected hit, with Diesel giving his best performance (even to this day) as the hunted serial-killer with a clever pair of adjusted eyes. An overblown, big-budgeted sequel, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK seemed to lose alot of the characters dark credibility, however Diesel still came across as the best thing about that project.
This brings us to the new adventure, which is once again written and directed by David Twohy. RIDDICK, a simple enough title for a film, will apparently get back to the characters gritty and gutsy best, although was at one stage in danger of having its finance pulled. Eventually, filming was completed and is now in post-production. Vin Diesel has been sharing images from the set via his Facebook page since filming commenced, but this brilliant new image is the first since production ended.
RIDDICK is expected to hit cinemas in January, but has not yet been confirmed. The film co-stars Jordi Molla, Katee Sackhoff, David Bautista, Keri Hilson, Bokeem Woodbine and Karl Urban.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
