Fox 2000 have acquired the rights to The Beach Boys back catalogue to produce a nrand new movie musical based on the music of the popular American band. Fox paid upwards of $2 million, outbidding the likes of Universal, for the rights for the movie, which will be produced by Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, and John Stamos.

The film was pitched by Susannah Grant and will NOT be a biopic of the famous band, but will be an original narrative with the famous Beach Boys songs as a backdrop, similar in vein to MAMMA MIA, which was a HUGE hit two years ago.

According to Deadline, “The story takes place in Southern California over a summer in the 60’s. It’s inspired by the sounds of the Beach Boys music and the beach culture of that time.”
