Tommy Lee Jones To Mentor Robert De Niro?

The news that Tommy Lee Jones is to join the cast of Luc Besson’s MALAVITA is almost as if someone’s had a dream that Jones’ Agent K (from MEN IN BLACK) has joined Robert De Niro in GOODFELLAS – crazy but exciting news!

Based on the book ‘Badfellas’ (written by French crime fiction author, Tonino Benacquista), MALAVITA stars Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer as husband and wife, who move away to France to start a new life. But this isn’t any normal emigration story; the pair had mafia ties and have been moved under the Witness Protection Programme. Things start out well as they try to fit in, but the the allure of gang life is too tempting to stay away from. In steps (if he accepts the role) Tommy Lee Jones, who would play De Niro’s handler. His character would keep tabs on the couple to make sure they’re staying out of trouble.

Billed as a dark action comedy, Besson is well-known for directing THE FIFTH ELEMENT and being the producer behind TAKEN and COLOMBIANA. With plenty of De Niro and Jones fans out there, tell us what you think. Good pairing? Will you go to see it? Let us know.

MALAVITA, directed by Luc Besson, starts production in August with an eye on a 2013 release.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
