Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM may not arrive until next summer but it’s perfect timing for a Comic-Con tease, that starts Thursday 12th July in San Diego. First up, we’ve got a new poster for his giant-robots-battle-for-Earth epic that stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and ole big-face Ron Perlman. This weekend started with a look at a comic-con poster for THE HOBBIT, and we’ve previously had a few images for PACIFIC RIM but we think it’s highly likely that footage will appear after the weekend…well, we bloody hope so.
All we know, so far, is that when an alien attack threatens the Earth’s existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the whatever is trying to wipe us out. Although it does sound on the verge of many narratives gone before, knowing del Toro, he’s out to do this properly and is brilliantly passionate about it, so we’re eager and excited in every respect.
