A Kick Ass Giant Killer

Bryan Singer has had the film JACK THE GIANT KILLER in his back pocket for a long while now with snippets of news about it’s progress creeping out over the last few years.

Finally the film has been green lit by the powers that be at New Line.  The film is a darker take on the original the 1962, Nathan Juran, JACK THE GIANT KILLER, production about a farmboy that turns into a knight to fend off an evil wizard.

The story has been retooled by scriptwriters, Mark Bomback and Darren Lemke who have previously work on LOST, DIE HARD 4.0, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN to name a few.  But the project has faced some difficulties forcing New Line to bring in Christopher McQuarrie THE USUAL SUSPECTS scribe and is now in a strong position to move forward.  Singer has began searching for his Jack to head this blockbuster and looks to be turning to Aaron Johnson previously torching up the screen in the last year with KICK ASS and NOWHERE BOY.  Though this seems to be Singer’s number one contender New Line are still making the rounds on all the young talent.

JACK THE GIANT KILLER is expected to start filming in the Spring.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
