Laurence Fishburne In Talks To Join Hannibal TV Series

Since leaving his slot on television hit show C.S.I., the versatile Laurence Fishburne has been filling his time with pivotal roles in the likes of Soderburgh’s CONTAGION, sci-fi thriller THE COLONY and Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL. Now it’s expected he’ll return to the small screen in Bryan Fuller’s forthcoming serial-killer series, HANNIBAL.

THE MATRIX actor is currently in negotiations for the role of Jack Crawford, the FBI chief previously played by Dennis Farina in MANHUNTER, Scott Glenn in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and Harvey Keitel in RED DRAGON. If talks are successful, Fishburne will join Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen who will both be portraying Will Graham and charming flesh-eater Hannibal Lecter respectively.

Filming on the show that focuses on the early relationship between Graham and Lecter will commence in September, with 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and HARD CANDY main man David Slade in charge for the pilot episode.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
