You may not have recognised the Swedish heartthrob back then, but he played one of Ben Stiller’s unfortunate model roommates that perished in the gasoline fight at the beginning of ZOOLANDER. Skarsgard himself is hoping to return as he told GQ magazine:
I’m pitching it right now. I wouldn’t want to miss that. Well, I’m hoping they would do something like the scene with Hamlet’s father, and that Meekus will come back as a ghost — I mean, he’s definitely dead.
Although it is yet to be greenlit, Ben Stiller is currently writing the script for ZOOLANDER 2. In the 11 years since ZOOLANDER, Skarsgard has seen his career skyrocket with substantial roles in films such as MELANCHOLIA, BATTLESHIP, and STRAW DOGS not to mention his starmaking turn in TV series TRUE BLOOD. I think it could make a very funny scene to have Skarsgard return, especially if they cast him as another character. If you have Wilson and Stiller as supermodels then why not uglify Skarsgard? After all, would the majority of the movie going audience even notice?
